Chicago Signs & Symbols Volume 2


2025Chicago Signs and Symbols is a project that asks, what makes Chicago signs unique? How are signs cultural indicators of our social realities? What can be understood about Chicago’s past, present, and future through semiotics? And how do you see yourself reflected in the signs around you?

Volume 2 features an interview with photographer, curator and archivist Oscar Arriola with additional photography submitted by Steven Melendez, Julia Buck, Maddie Vaccaro, and Atlan Arceo-Witzl.
